Questions & answers
Your questions about SchoolBell.
From existing loudspeakers to multiple buildings. Find the answers before taking the next step.
01What is SchoolBell?
SchoolBell is a digital school bell system with a clear touch panel for managing scheduled bells, custom audio clips and routine announcements.
02Can we keep our existing loudspeakers?
Often, yes. SchoolBell can connect to a suitable existing amplifier. For installations in Sweden, AVAB checks connections, signal levels and loudspeaker condition before installation.
03Do we need Dante?
No. Dante is an option where networked audio distribution is appropriate. Many schools can use an analogue connection to a conventional amplifier.
04How can we have audio in both the school and the sports hall?
With a suitable network connection, Dante can distribute audio to different receivers. Another option is SchoolBell Sync in the sports hall, using shared scheduling information while playing audio locally.
05Do we need to bury a loudspeaker cable between buildings?
Not necessarily. A SchoolBell Sync unit provides local playback without a separate analogue loudspeaker cable from the main building. Automatic synchronisation still requires a working data connection or another planned transfer method.
06What if there is no network between buildings?
An additional SchoolBell unit can play locally using schedules and audio files already stored on it. Without a connection, new changes are not shared automatically and live announcements from other buildings cannot be carried across.
07Can staff make manual announcements from several locations?
Yes. An installation can have several local control points, for example a SchoolBell Sync unit where there is a local audio system. The audio and communication design determines which other areas an announcement can reach.
08Can different areas have different bell times?
SchoolBell can be configured for different schedules and audio areas. The required audio equipment depends on the zoning and how many different sounds must play at the same time.
09Can we record our own announcements?
Yes. SchoolBell includes audio clip and recording functions for routine announcements. These can be used for everyday school signals and information.
10How does holiday mode work?
Holiday mode pauses regular scheduled bells during school breaks and makes it straightforward to return to normal operation.
11Does SchoolBell need the internet for every bell?
Playback of stored local schedules and audio is intended to work without a continuous connection to a cloud service. A communication link is needed to keep several units updated automatically. The exact network requirements are specified for each installation.
12Is the panel powered by PoE?
PoE+ or a separate power supply can be selected according to the hardware and installation requirements. For Swedish purchases, AVAB confirms the chosen configuration in the quotation.
13Who should we contact for information and installation?
For product and feature questions, contact info@schoolbell.se. For purchases, quotations, installation and project planning in Sweden, contact our Swedish reseller AVAB at info@avab.eu. Enquiries from other countries should go to SchoolBell.
14Is SchoolBell a certified voice evacuation alarm?
No. SchoolBell is for scheduled school bells and routine announcements. It is not a certified voice evacuation alarm and does not replace any fire, evacuation or lockdown alarm systems required for the building. Such systems must be designed separately to meet applicable requirements.
